Devlog #12: More improvements to enemy AI
I made a little more progress on the enemy detection and movement today. Now the enemies can't see you through non-path tiles, but they can also hear you when you move within a certain distance. They also move about randomly when they cannot detect the player.
Since I also need to work on some programming stuff for my university's rocket team, I do not know if I should still try to make progress on this game every day, or if I should focus only on one each day. On one hand, it was my goal in the beginning to work on this basically every single day until it was done (with some but not very many breaks), because I feel like that is the only way that I can stay disciplined enough to actually finish a game. On the other hand, however, I also feel like I would be more productive in both areas if I split them up into separate days.
For now, I am going to see how far I can get by doing both in one day and reassess later. The main struggle comes from staying focused, so maybe I need to decide at the very beginning of the day during which hours I will be working on which project.
Anyway, agenda for tomorrow is corpse collecting! Finally, the whole point of the game. Realistically, this shouldn't take very long at all, so if I have a bit more time after rocket stuff I will also make the enemy able to attack the player. I do not fully know how this is going to work, though.
We'll see how we go and I'll update you tomorrow!
