The Waker
A downloadable game
The idea right now is to make something of a turn-based dungeon crawler. A bit like He Is Coming or Rogue, I believe*. It is set in a world that has been cursed such that humans are no longer able to reproduce. Consequently, necromancers have become an integral part of society, now that raising the dead is the only way to increase the population of abled bodies and minds. The player's main role is to collect the corpses of perished adventurers and bring them back to shop to sell.
Instead of fighting enemies, you will more often than not have to sneak past, outrun or outsmart them. Like Rain World*, I hope. Once you have successfully returned, various necromancers and necromantic guilds will make offers for your "loot". However, there may be times where morality becomes a serious consideration, like in Papers, Please*. You need to buy food so you have energy for tomorrow, but is it worth it if it means handing over the corpse of a powerful mage to a necromancer who's only goal is to enslave the local populace?
*Funnily enough, other than He Is Coming, I have not actually played any of these games, though I have heard about them. Despite that, these four are probably my main inspirations.
P.S. In case anyone is wondering, I am building this with Monogame.
